Meet the musos

If you are looking for a wedding band in the Dordogne, Aquitaine – or anywhere in the south of France – break out the Champagne! You’re moments away from booking SouthWest.

With a fantastic set list of dance-floor-filling tracks from the 60s to today, SouthWest is a all-live wedding band that everyone will love. Recent testimonials call the band “phenomenal”, “amazing”, “fantastic”, “amazing” and “excellent from start to finish”. When SouthWest starts to play no one wants the party to stop and encores of one hour or more are commonplace.

If you are not getting married this year, don’t worry – you can book SouthWest for anniversaries, private parties, engagements, births, evenings in pubs and clubs, or even at home. Wherever you want “fantastic” live music from a band with a great set list that packs the dance floor all night long.

Introducing your Dordogne wedding band

glenn profileGlenn – vocals, acoustic guitar and percussion

London-born Glenn has been fronting bands for longer than he’ll admit. He brings a huge amount of experience to SouthWest, having played on countless stages throughout Europe. Not just an incredible singer with a powerful, soulful voice, Glenn knows how to read the audience and will change the set to suit the mood – one of the great benefits of a live band. He will also invite members of the audience to join the band as backing singers, percussionists – even musicians.

Eric – lead guitar and backing vocalseric profile

Multi-lingual Eric is one of the most versatile guitarists you will ever see on stage, as comfortable with Soul, Funk, Blues, Rock and roll, Pop – or anything else you can throw at him. When not playing with the best wedding band in Aquitaine, Eric runs the music school in the beautiful medieval town of Belvès, and performs in a duo with his vocalist daughter.

Alex profileAlex – keyboard and backing vocals

Alex has been playing the piano since he was seven years old (although not continuously). He has played quietly in hotels and restaurants, and loudly on some of the biggest stages in the world. He has worked in Hard Rock, Progressive Rock, Indie, Soul bands and more. He is also available to play a completely separate set of contemporary and classical pieces in the background during cocktails, for an added touch of class.

Thierry – bassthierry profile

Not just a superb bassist, Dordogne-born-and-bred Thierry is also one of the loveliest people you could want to meet. He spends most of his life on the road, either playing with SouthWest or selling musical equipment for Laney Amplification. His technical knowledge gives SouthWest a real edge over other wedding bands in the south of France – essential when you see the professional sound system the band brings to the show.

Gerard profileGérard – drums

Gérard and Thierry have been playing in bands together for over 30 years, which makes them one of the tightest – and best – rhythm sections in the region. Professor of drums at the Conservatoire by day, Gérard comes alive on stage. Still in love with his instrument after all this time, with the stamina of an athlete, he is always disappointed at the end of the set – and never happier than during an encore…

Staging SouthWest

Please remember, SouthWest is a five-piece live band with a full pa, lighting rig, smoke machine, plus a variety of percussion. The band needs a minimum performance area of five metres by four – the larger the better – and a reliable source of electricity (Gérard can bring an electric drum kit for small spaces, but please let the band know well in advance). Facing the stage, at least 10 metres away, the band’s sound and lighting engineer will need space to set up the mixing desks, effects and camera.

SouthWest has years of experience playing in countless venues, and the band is happy to work with your wedding planner or party organiser to make sure everything will be alright on the day or night. If you are planning the event yourself, please ask about the minimum space and electrical requirements. Everything else will be taken care of. You’ve got enough to think about already.
